Willow
Willow was an older original character I created, who I wanted to give new life to! I really liked her design, and I wanted to update it to my current style. I really love how she turned out, and I think her new design shows off her personality much better than her old one!
Original Design
I liked a lot about this old design, but I had out grown this art style and wanted to do justice to her!
Rough Sketch/Ideation
I started by focusing on the pose, using a reference to really create a sense of movement and life, rather than her old static pose.
Line Art
Once I liked where my sketch was at, I went over it all in a new layer, creating my clean lineart before adding in color.
Final Sketch
On top of the preliminary sketch I made to get the pose and anatomy right, I layered on her hair, face, and clothes, improving on what I liked from her original design!
Flat Color
Finally, before my shading and rendering to finalize the image, I block in my flat colors and play around with the color pallet until I'm happy with the result!
